ChemStation began in 1977 when owner George Homan had a small janitorial supply shop in Dayton, OH. George’s shop focused primarily on soap products for local industrial customers.
One of Geoge’s goals as an industrial supplier was eliminating one of the most pervasive and harmful forms of environmental waste: empty totes and drums rotting in landfills. Seepage from these empty drums and totes affected the local water supply, soil, animals, and humans.
George began to analyze each customer’s unique needs and requirements and produce custom formulations to meet those needs. Next, he focused on how those formulations could be delivered to his customer base while keeping empty tanks and drums out of landfills.
Early environmental stewardship
George’s vision of creating and maintaining products that minimize environmental impact was unique in the industrial sector. Environmental stewardship wasn’t an integral part of business practices in the late 1970s.
Soon, he developed the refillable tank system that is in use today. Tanks were delivered directly to customers and installed in their facilities. Once supplies run low, a technician would arrive on-site and refill the tanks.
This model was less dangerous for his customer’s employees, who were no longer tasked with receiving, handling, refilling, and storing the chemical compounds.
Over time, ChemStation has emerged as a leader in the industrial cleaning sector. Their unique refillable tank system has so far diverted over 6 million containers from North American landfills.
Growth across north america
ChemStation has expanded from 15 locations in 1977 to over 60 North American sites to date and counts the transportation, construction, printing, and food/beverage industries among its customers.
ChemStation continues to be a leader in the industrial cleaning space, focusing on sustainability, environmental stewardship, and EPA/FDA approved products for hard surface sanitation, disinfection, and microbial control.
From its single-location beginnings in Dayton, OH to its expansion across North America, ChemStation remains committed to superior service, environmental stewardship, and a full line of custom-blended cleaning products.
